This tool can generate a TSIG key value (base64) for you very easily. The key value complies with RFC2845.
Secret Key Transaction Authentication for DNS (TSIG) is a secure method of authenticating clients making dynamic DNS update requests. The client application and the DNS server share a secret key value which is used to sign (HMAC-MD5) each update request. You can think of the key name as a user ID, and the key value as a password.
You can create a key value using four different methods:
Random 128 bit value, random 256 bit value, random 512 bit value or from pass-phrase (MD5-hash).
The key value generation functionality of TSIG Key Generator is already built into Simple DNS Plus and Simple Failover from JH Software. |

This End User License Agreement (EULA) is a CONTRACT between you (either an individual or a single entity) and JH Software, which covers your use of the software "TSIG Key Generator" and related components.
You should carefully read the following terms and conditions before using this software. If you do not agree to the terms of this EULA, then do not install or use TSIG Key Generator. By accepting this EULA you are acknowledging and agreeing to be bound by the following:
All rights not expressly granted in this license agreement are reserved entirely to JH Software.
* Disclaimer of Warranty *
This software and the accompanying files are distributed "as is" and without warranties as to performance or merchantability or any other warranties whether expressed or implied. Because of the various hardware and software environments into which TSIG Key Generator may be put no warranty of fitness for a particular purpose is offered. Good data processing procedure dictates that any program be thoroughly tested with non-critical data before relying on it. The user must assume the entire risk of using the program.
* Distribution of TSIG Key Generator *
You are hereby licensed to make as many copies of TSIG Key Generator and documentation as you wish in its unmodified form via electronic means. There is no charge for any of the above. You are specifically PROHIBITED from charging, or requesting donations, for any such copies, however made; and from distributing the software and/or documentation with other products (commercial or otherwise) without prior written permission from the JH Software.
* No right to transfer *
You may not rent, lease, lend, or in any way distribute or transfer any rights in this EULA to third parties without JH Software's written approval, and subject to agreement by the recipient of the terms of this EULA.
* Intellectual property rights *
TSIG Key Generator is owned by JH Software and is protected by international and local copyright laws and treaties. You must not remove or alter any copyright notices on any copies of TSIG Key Generator. TSIG Key Generator is distributed free, not sold. You may not use, copy, or distribute TSIG Key Generator, except as granted by this EULA without written authorization from JH Software or its designated agents. Furthermore, this EULA does not grant you any rights in connection with any trademarks or service marks of JH Software. JH Software reserves all intellectual property rights, including copyrights, and trademark rights.
* Third party rights *
Any software provided along with TSIG Key Generator that is associated with a separate license agreement is licensed to you under the terms of that license agreement. This EULA does not apply to any such portions of TSIG Key Generator.
* High risk activities *
TSIG Key Generator is not designed, manufactured or intended for use or resale as on-line control equipment in hazardous environments requiring fail-safe performance, such as in the operation of nuclear facilities, aircraft navigation or communication systems, air traffic control, direct life support machines, or weapons systems, in which the failure of TSIG Key Generator, or any software, tool, process, or service that was developed using TSIG Key Generator, could lead directly to death, personal injury, or severe physical or environmental damage ("High Risk Activities"). Accordingly, JH Software and its suppliers and licensors specifically disclaim any express or implied warranty of fitness for High Risk Activities. You agree that JH Software and its suppliers and licensors will not be liable for any claims or damages arising from the use of TSIG Key Generator, or any software, tool, process, or service that was developed using TSIG Key Generator, in such applications.
* Governing Law *
This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Denmark.
